Are you looking to adopt a new canine family member? Why not rely on a seasoned adoption counselor and rescue expert with an extensive network of contacts to help you find the right match and navigate the world of dog adoption? Or, maybe you have already found (or brought home) the lucky pup and would like support and advice on how to set your home up for success and ensure that the integration goes as seamlessly as possible.
A.J. has been rescuing, rehabilitating, networking, fostering and matching homeless dogs with their forever families since 2011. She has an extensive network of animal rescue groups, shelters and foster homes throughout the New Jersey and New York City area (and beyond!) and a deep understanding of how to increase successful adoptions and decrease returns. Using A.J.’s adoption counseling services to find or integrate your new dog into your home is the first step towards a long happy, healthy, stable life together.
How does this work?
The first step is to contact A.J. by using the form below. You will receive an E-Mail back with a brief questionnaire to fill out and submit. Once A.J. receives your questionnaire and confirms that her services are available she will send you a client agreement and an invoice for a one-time fee. This fee, which is valid for two (2) weeks from receipt of payment, guarantees the following services:
- A customized list of proposed dog matches for you (if not already committed to a dog)
- Continuous email or phone advice (max response time is 12 hours) throughout the adoption and integration process
- Liaising with rescue groups as necessary
- A customized proposed “shopping list” of tried and true products for your new family member
- A shoulder to lean on as you learn to navigate the world of dog!
The week leading up to the finalization of the adoption, A.J. provided me with so much useful information, that I would have never been as prepared to welcome Jeanie into our home if it wasn’t for A.J. At no point was she pushy or did she claim that we had to do things her way, but all of the tips and pointers made for a very easy transition.
A.J. came over to our house to work with us and Marty to have him follow simple commands to help channel his energies. I was shocked at how quickly Marty caught on to all the commands. She also recommended other things to help Marty such as, socialization with other dogs, doggie daycare, exercise, and exposing him to triggers. Two years later, Marty has improved so much and is truly an amazing dog.
